Women Bridging Borders is dedicated to provide learning and connecting experiences as we strive to make a difference in the lives of women both locally and abroad.

Our story began in 2008. After hearing representatives from Mennonite Economic Development Association (MEDA) explain how we could empower marginalized women by giving them microfinance loans to create their own small businesses, we were eager to share this unique opportunity with others. By evening’s end, we had begun brainstorming ways to proceed.

Soon our women’s group of six members was created, and our name, Women Beyond Borders (now Women Bridging Borders), was selected. Our mission statement was written to include three guiding words – learn, connect, empower. With each of our projects, we begin by devoting a significant block of time to learn about the specific issue. Next, we work to connect either directly or indirectly with experts in the chosen area and, as feasible, with those who are marginalized. Our ultimate goal is to create opportunities that will help both us and others become empowered to act. We invite you to join us in this endeavor!
